KIRAN HARNE

With over six years of enriching experience in the hospitality industry, Kiran Harne has worked with some of the most prestigious names, including: The Taj Mahal, Oberoi, Sea Princess, Holiday Inn

Kiran began his journey as a steward and, through dedication and excellence, rose to become a Restaurant Supervisor. Honored with the prestigious Best Waiter of the Year (2001) award at Mayfair Rooms, he has had the privilege of personally serving distinguished leaders and icons such as President Bill Clinton, Prime Minister A. B. Vajpayee, Shri Amitabh Bachchan, Shri Sachin Tendulkar, and many more.

This module introduces participants to the distinct dining customs and table settings of various cultures, including Indian, British, Continental, American, and Oriental styles. Learners will gain the cultural awareness and technical know-how to navigate diverse dining environments with grace and confidence, adapting their etiquette to suit different traditions.

From the moment of entry to the conclusion of a meal, this session covers the finer points of dining in a restaurant setting. Participants will learn how to be seated, manage their belongings at the table, use napkins and glassware correctly, and adhere to the silent service code. The course also explores etiquette specific to British, Indian and Oriental styles of dining, including the proper handling of cutlery, soup, tea, toasting, and eating complex foods with ease.

  • Indian Dining Etiquette

    : Learn the Casual Table Setting Etiquette, ideal for house parties or simple get-togethers. Make your table inviting and yet practical, maintaining a perfect balance between style and ease.

  • Asian Dining Etiquette

    : Participants are taught the correct use of chopsticks, graceful methods of eating rice, and the proper way to enjoy sushi. Emphasis is placed on avoiding common mistakes and understanding cultural nuances in Asian dining practices.

  • Paying for Your Meal

    : This topic covers the etiquette of handling bills, splitting checks, tipping practices, and expressing gratitude to servers—essential knowledge for social and business dining alike.

Participants will discover the art of maintaining good manners and courtesy in casual dining settings. This module explores proper buffet behaviour, including serving order, managing shared dishes, and avoiding common faux pas. It also addresses how to conduct oneself appropriately in fast-food environments without compromising grace.

This session equips learners with the sensitivity and knowledge to dine respectfully across cultures. From understanding diverse traditions to navigating unfamiliar culinary customs, participants will develop the awareness needed to avoid cultural blunders and foster positive international interactions.

Learners will explore the rich tradition of tea service across cultures, including Afternoon Tea (Indian and British), Cream Tea, Royal Tea, and High Tea. The course covers guest and host responsibilities, the correct way to hold a teacup, and the proper use of milk, sugar, and lemon. Participants will leave with the finesse and charm needed to participate in or host an elegant tea gathering.

➡ ️ Ideal for children aged 4 to 12 years. The content and activities are tailored to different age brackets to ensure every child can participate and benefit.

➡ ️ Your child will learn:

  • Proper table manners (sitting, posture, conversation)
  • How to eat with hands gracefully (Indian style)
  • How to use cutlery, napkins, and glasses
  • setting up a table (Indian & Western styles)
  • Respect for food and elders
  • Clean eating habits & hygiene
  • Dining etiquette for festivals, parties, and family meals

➡ ️ Yes! A major part of the session focuses on Indian dining etiquette, including how to eat with hands respectfully, serve elders, and participate in traditional meals like thalis or prasadam.

➡ ️ You will need:

  • A stable internet connection
  • A device with camera and microphone (phone, tablet, or computer)
  • Basic dining items (spoon, fork, napkin, plate, glass) for practice A checklist will be shared in advance!

➡ ️Standard sessions are 45 minutes to 1 hour. We also offer mini-courses (3–5 sessions) and weekend workshops depending on your preference.

➡ ️ Sessions are led by Kiran Harne, an experienced hospitality professional who has worked with The Taj, Oberoi, Sea Princess, and more. He makes the learning fun, respectful, and practical.

➡ ️ Yes! Every child receives a “Napkin Ninja Graduate” e-certificate upon completion.

➡ ️ Parents are welcome but not required to attend. However, we recommend joining the last 5–10 minutes of the session to observe your child’s progress and receive tips for practice at home.

➡ ️ Sessions are live and interactive, so we encourage real-time participation. Recordings may be available on request for revision purposes.

➡ ️ No physical kit is required. We’ll share a simple checklist before the session so you can use items easily found at home (plates, napkins, etc.).
